Our government has the power to make our lives better, our opportunities stronger, and our children’s futures brighter. Time and again we see that our legislators will not prioritize the one thing concerning all Texans: affordability and cost of living. We are told that our economy is booming; in fact, U.S. News and World Report ranked the Texas economy as #2 in the country in 2025. However, that same report ranked Texas opportunity at #48. What good does a top performing economy do if the majority of citizens cannot afford the cost of living and are not granted equal economic opportunities?
- Increase the Minimum Wage: Raise the minimum wage so full-time work pays a living wage, helping families keep up with rising housing, food, healthcare, and transportation costs
- Access to Affordable Child Care: Expand access to high-quality, affordable child care by supporting providers through workforce development and sustainable funding as well as fund universal PreK
- Insurance Affordability: Tackle skyrocketing home, flood, and wind insurance costs through consumer protections and resilience investments that reduce risk
- Utility & Energy Costs: Support grid reliability and safeguards that prevent price spikes while keeping energy affordable
- Good-Paying Local Jobs: Strengthen workforce pipelines so residents can earn wages that pace with the cost of living
